I read somewhere that jazz is the only artform actually invented by Americans. Well, what about country and western music? Who the hell do you think invented that? The Italians?
But my point is that, unlike jazz, people actually like country and western music. Somehow that little piece of information was oh-so-conveniently left out of whatever it was that I read.
What makes America great? How about Civil War reenactments that are just about indistinguishable from the real thing? That is, if it weren’t for all the damn utility poles.
Another reason I love America is that even though our great airlines don’t serve sparkling water, they do serve club soda, which is similar.
One of the things I love most about America is that the leader of our great country, the President, works out of a home office just like I do, although he probably has a real desk instead of a card table.
I just thought of another reason why I love America. It’s because we can successfully send a schoolteacher into space 50% of the time.
